Where the criminal line runs
Selling sex is not itself a crime in Slovakia, but organising it is. Section 367 of the Criminal Code, kupliarstvo, covers procuring, providing premises and profiting from another person's prostitution, and it is drafted broadly enough to reach an online intermediary. Content sits under the Media Services Act of 2022, supervised by the Council for Media Services, which is also Slovakia's digital services coordinator under the DSA and enforces protection of minors and the uniform content-labelling system. Advertising law additionally prohibits advertising contrary to good morals - a vague standard that is applied in practice, so the wording of service descriptions is a legal question and not only a copywriting one.

Payments in a euro country
Slovak banks and the domestic gateways - GoPay, Besteron, TatraPay - do not serve adult, and Stripe and PayPal exclude it. The workable set is CCBill, Verotel, SegPay and Epoch. Slovakia uses the euro, which removes an FX layer that complicates neighbouring markets, and EEA cards need strong customer authentication through 3-D Secure 2. Digital-services VAT follows the customer, so a merchant-of-record processor saves a small operator from one-stop-shop registration and quarterly filings in every country they sell into.

Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Ukrainian
Slovak as the default. Czech is a near-adjacent second market, but the languages are not interchangeable for search: separate pages on separate copy rank, a Czech text served on a Slovak domain does not. Hungarian matters in the south, and Slovakia hosts a large Ukrainian-speaking population - for many projects that audience is the actual point, alongside English and Russian. We build each locale as its own content set rather than a language switch over one text.

Hosting, entity and DSA proportionality
Host in the EU - the Netherlands, Germany or Czechia are the usual choices - and place the entity where the processor will actually onboard it. DSA hosting duties apply at any size: a notice-and-action mechanism, a point of contact, statements of reasons. Micro and small enterprises are exempt from the heavier online-platform obligations, which is worth knowing before someone sells you a compliance package built for a company a hundred times your size.
